In order to create a micro climate conducive for the growth of plants shade nets are used.
Shade is useful for cultivating plants during off season.
Some plants cannot tolerate too much sun light ( the leaves will get scorched and growth will be stunted and flowering is affected) . Eg: Anthuriums.
So in order to provide a favourable micro climate, Anthuriums are placed under shade net.
Shade nets protect plants from heavy rain and also from excess sunlight and heat there by increasing the productivity of the crop during off season.
Shade net reduce the radiation (especially ultraviolet radiation) reaching the plants.
It act as mechanical barrier to pests and disease (by controlling the vectors of diseases) thereby minimizing the usage of pesticides.
It acts as wind break also.
Shade nets are also used in nurseries and also for hardening of tissue culture plants - for protecting plants from the heavy radiation .
Shade nets are of two types knitted and woven. Knitted shade nets are usually used for agriculture/horticulture purposes.
Other one is used for shading purposes, Wind break etc. According to percentage of light penetration shade nets are available like 15%, 35%, 40%, 50% 75% and 90% .15 % shade net will cut 15 % light passing through the net.
Usually 30- 50 percentage shade nets are used for growing ornamentals and vegetable plants.
75 percentage is used for growing shade loving plants like ferns. Also shade nets of different colours (like green, red, black) are there.
Black is good for nurseries and green help in better foliage development.
Shade net helps the plants plant to grow better in adverse climatic condition by
creating a favourable climate around the plant.
The green shade nets of 50and 75 percentage are available with us.
